From the very beginning the Sisters involved themselves in ministries of social service, education and health care.
They worked directly with the poor and sick in their homes, provided housing and care for women, orphans and blind children and adults, and as need arose, established schools and hospitals.

With over 125 years of serving the community, Peace Care, formerly known as the Margaret Anna Cusack Care Center, is a non-profit nursing community providing excellent healthcare in Jersey City. Peace Care has two outstanding communities: St. Joseph’s located in Journal Square and St. Ann’s in Greenville.
Peace Care’s mission is caring for the whole person with compassion, dignity and respect. Peace Care is rooted in Catholic tradition and is guided by the values of The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace and our founder Margaret Anna Cusack also known as Mother Clare.
